DISCOVERING PORTHLEVEN

Historic Porthleven - is one of those secrets that you will not want to share.

The unique unspoilt harbour of Porthleven is situated some two miles from the historic market town of Helston.

Built in Napoleonic times this picturesque historic harbour is surrounded and overlooked by the outstanding natural beauty of the Cornish countryside.

Historic Porthleven

Porthleven really does offer the visitor everything - a magnificent 2 mile stretch of sandy beach complete with rock pools, the harbour with its fishing and boats, the fabulous restaurants and cafes, the craft and art galleries and the traditional Cornish cottages and pubs, and of course, the coastal path right on your doorstep giving access to some of the most spectacular scenery Britain has to offer.

In Porthleven you can spend your time browsing the many gift shops in fact you need not go out of the village for anything. There is a bakers, a Post Office, a fishmonger who sells fresh fish straight off the boats, a mini-supermarket with off-licence and the best takeaway fish & chip shop in Cornwall ‘Roland’s happy Plaice’. There is live music in the pubs and on the harbour side, and events throughout the summer such as gig racing, lifeboat day and traditional Cornish festivals.

You can enjoy Porthleven all year round.

In the winter people book to stay in Porthleven just to experience the spectacularly dramatic power of the sea during the winter storms. The sea crashes against the massive harbour walls testing the harbour sea wall defences to the limit.

Porthleven remains unspoilt with a thriving local community offering the perfect combination of holiday resort and fishing port.

Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the United Kingdom
